and atypical lymphocytes.
2. An intravenous drug abuser presents with fever, malaise,
anorexia, nausea, arthralgia and jaundice.
3. A medical student returns from elective in Africa with a
headache, malaise and myalgia. The patient is anaemic, jaundiced and has daily
fever spikes.
4. A 35 year old male presents following a year of
unexplained feverish episodes. He has now developed intractable diarrhoea. On
examination it is noted the patient has multiple purplish papules all over his
body including his mouth.
5. A middle-aged housewife presents with a week’s history of
lethargy and fever. On examination she has splenomegaly and lymphadenopathy. On
investigation she is leucopenic.
